Wine cake, also known as torta envinada in Spanish, is a simple cake.
Momma’s Wine Cake Recipe
This simple cake looks great on a buffet table or in a picnic basket during the holidays! You will not believe the aroma that emanates from your oven while it is baking! The alcohol evaporates, leaving only the flavor. It's moist and delicious, and it's been a favorite birthday request in our house for more than 20 years!
Ingredients
- 1 package moist white cake mix
- 1 package instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ¾ cup vegetable oil
- ¾ cup white wine
- 4 pec eggs
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees C). One 10-inch bundt pan should be greased and floured.
- Combine the cake mix, instant vanilla pudding, nutmeg, vegetable oil, white wine, and eggs in a medium mixing bowl. For 5 minutes, beat with an electric mixer.
- Bake for 50 minutes at 350°F (175°C) or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow 10 minutes for the cake to cool on the rack in the pan before removing it to the rack. Before slicing the cake, let it cool fully. Serve sliced cake with a dab of whipped cream or sliced strawberries and confectioners' sugar.
- Variation: For a textured crust, "flour" the pan after it has been greased with cocoa powder or a cinnamon sugar mixture. Fill a clean salt shaker with the mixture for easy application. This will remove the "white gunk" from the outside of your baked cake, resulting in a more attractive cake.
