Ingredients
  

  • ½  cup  butter softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1-⅓  cup almond meal/flour
  • 2.5  ounces   dark chocolate finely chopped or grated (see instructions)
  • 1 glass sour cherries drained (about 350 g / 12 ounces)

Instructions
 

  • Begin by preheating the oven to 350°F/180°C. Next, ensure your 10-inch/26cm round cake pan is well-prepared with grease, flour, and lining.
  • Begin by creaming the softened butter and sugar until it's light in texture. Then, add the eggs one at a time, ensuring you beat the mixture after each addition. In a separate bowl, whisk together all the dry ingredients. Finally, combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture.
  • Finally, fold in the drained cherries and chocolate chips. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Chill the cake in the pan for 30 minutes, then flip it onto a large plate, and finally, place it right side up on a wire rack.
  • Chill thoroughly, dust with powdered sugar, and optionally serve with a dollop of vanilla whipped cream. Store covered for up to a week.
