Bread Pudding Base
- 1 long loaf of French Bread (torn into bite-sized pieces)
- ½ cup (1 stick) salted butter (melted)
- 1 cup raisins (optional, but adds a sweet chewiness)
- 4 cups milk (whole milk works best for a rich texture)
- 4 large eggs (room temperature)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 Tablespoons vanilla extract
- ½ cup dark rum or whisky (optional, for added depth; substitute with ½ cup extra milk if desired)
Sweet Glaze Topping
- ½ cup (1 stick) salted butter (melted and cooled)
- 2 cups powdered sugar
Toast the Bread
