- 1 cup water (heated to 110°F)
- 2 1/4 tsp instant dry yeast
- 2 tsp honey
- 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 1/2 - 3 cups all-purpose flour
Garlic Butter Topping
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 5 tbsp olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley
- Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)
In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook attachment, add warm water, yeast, and honey. Stir and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
Add 2 cups of flour, salt, and olive oil to the mixture. Mix on low speed for 3-4 minutes, until well combined.
Gradually add the remaining 1/2 - 1 cup of flour, a little at a time, until a smooth dough forms. The dough should pull away cleanly from the sides of the bowl but still feel soft.
Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Once risen, punch down the dough to release air bubbles.
