Ingredients

  • 1 cup water (heated to 110°F)
  • 2 1/4 tsp instant dry yeast
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 1/2 - 3 cups all-purpose flour

Garlic Butter Topping

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 5 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley
  • Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)

Instructions

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook attachment, add warm water, yeast, and honey. Stir and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Add 2 cups of flour, salt, and olive oil to the mixture. Mix on low speed for 3-4 minutes, until well combined.
  • Gradually add the remaining 1/2 - 1 cup of flour, a little at a time, until a smooth dough forms. The dough should pull away cleanly from the sides of the bowl but still feel soft.
  • Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Once risen, punch down the dough to release air bubbles.
